About Us

Tuesday mornings – No Talent Required, Just Guts and Gusto

Tuesdays are hard. Singing badly with lovely people makes them better.
Welcome to Sing-Your-Heart-Out Tuesdays — your weekly reminder that singing isn’t about perfection, it’s about joy, volume, and occasionally missing the key by a country mile. Whether you’re croaky, shouty, off-pitch or gloriously tone-deaf, come let it all out in the most raucous way possible.

This isn’t choir practice. This is therapy disguised as group karaoke — no solos, no spotlight, no judgement. Just a room full of people who think they can’t sing, doing it anyway… and loving every offbeat minute of it.

The singalong group also differentiates from other choirs in that there's no expectation to commit. Many members turn up up every week because it's so much fun, but we recognise that life is very busy these days and therefore you can simply pay as you go.

Neither is there any expectation to improve. Hints and tips to better singing are dished out (both of the leaders, Ian and Tracie Penwarden, are professional musicians and singers in their own right) but you can take it or leave it; the emphasis is on belting out good tunes whether that sounds good or bad!

As far as repertoire is concerned, anything goes as long as it's fun and singable. You can see what's in the lyric book here. You won't be reading music - you'll be given a lyric book and we sing against fairly loud backing tracks (so nobody can hear us!). The most popular songs are by ABBA or Neil Diamond although anything suitable goes.

So come on and give it a go no matter how good or bad you are at singing. There are so many social and health benefits to singing in a group.
